We recently sent one of our installation teams to Weymouth Sea Life Centre, to take on the exciting challenge of creating Dorset’s biggest adventure playground. Working in conjunction with Playdale our team varied the depth of the wet pour safety surfacing from 20mm – 130mm to ensure children would be safe when using the play equipment installed in the park.

Playdale was so impressed with our work, their Managing Director gave us this lovely testimonial:

“The RTC team at Weymouth did a fantastic job. We had designed the wow factor for what will be the biggest play area in the south west, it was extremely important we delivered the wow factor. RTC stayed in close contact to plan around the weather to avoid delays and completed on time. There were no issues with Health & Safety and the customer was extremely happy with how they conducted their work. RTC always do a fantastic job and have done for many years for Playdale but this site is one of those special sites and we could not have done it without them.”
Barry Leahey, MD, Playdale

The safety of children is always paramount for our teams, so as well using different depths in relation to the critical fall heights, our team also added in extra design features to ensure the raised mounds incorporated in the design would be visible from all angles and not become a trip hazard. Our wet pour can normally be used the day after installation, and we made sure that any remaining materials were removed quickly and efficiently to make the area as safe as possible for visitors.

This project had the unusual feature of including wooden sleepers within the wet pour – but our team made sure all of the graphics were a success! You can see more of graphics our team artfully installed on the Weymouth Case Study.

Our teams are trained in-house to ensure they are able to meet any design and create fun and colourful graphics that can help enhance play and encourage imagination.

Wet pour is highly popular in play areas like this due to being virtually maintenance free and non-slip. Also as it is a porous surface it can be used year round, and many of our wet pour installations are guaranteed for 5 years.  If you are interested in wet pour safety surfacing, you can contact us today for free advice and quick estimates.
