Millom Park, Cumbria

The team at Playdale invited us to their home turf of Cumbria to help upgrade Millom Park by installing new wet pour surfacing.

They noted that “Using bright and colourful wet pour safety surfacing can really enhance and ‘bring to life’ a themed playground so we knew this would be an essential element of the design.”

The wet pour was designed to reflect the town’s rich heritage. As such, it included sea-themed graphics to represent the fact Millom is situated on the north shore of the estuary River Dodden.

In a separate part of the play area, our team also installed mining themed graphics to reflect the towns mining history.

All of our on-site teams are trained in-house, meaning that any bespoke design can be installed within the wet pour surfacing.

The play area was comprised fully of our wet pour safety surfacing and spanned a total of 1,390m², which took our team a total of 12 days on-site to complete.

During this time, our Commercial Director Daniel Jones met with members of the Playdale team on-site to oversee the progress being made.

As the install covered a large area, our install team had to factor in the elevated areas that were part of the natural hill on which the play area sat.

Our install team was careful to ensure that the different depths of rubber used to meet the Critical Fall Heights and the elevated areas were smooth and easy for visitors to traverse.

Wet pour is a perfect surface for this type of play area, as our safety surfaces have been tested for slip resistance to ensure the safety of children as they explore the different elements.

After the install was completed Playdale reviewed our work and stated “As always, they did a fantastic job and the surfacing alone will really capture the imaginations of visitors to the playground.”

It seems that Playdale weren’t the only ones who were pleased with the completed project, as the park’s upgrade received lots of positive coverage in the local news.

At the grand opening, the children had a great time and even dubbed it ‘the best park ever!’ – so all in all, another successful install!
