Project Description
THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM
THE REQUIREMENTS
The University of Nottingham is internationally ranked in the top 1% of the world’s universities. With the rising trend of outdoor fitness areas, the University of Nottingham installed a 1.7-mile long fitness route to get the people of Nottingham fit and active.
Along this fitness route was five workstations featuring fitness equipment, offering a range of workouts to pupils and local community.
WHAT WE DID
RTC Safety Surfaces were approached to install 50/50 green flecked wetpour safety surfacing to minimize the risk of injuries from the fitness equipment at each workstation. In total, the covered area reached 427m² at a depth (including base) of 80mm taking around 5 days labour.

THE OUTCOME
The wetpour safety surfacing that we installed will provide years of impact absorbing safety for all users of the outdoor fitness equipment and will visually tone in with the University of Nottingham’s surroundings.
Assistant director of sport at the university, Samantha Bell-Minogue, said:
“The aim of the trail is to provide fitness opportunities or our staff, students and the local community. People can come and use it themselves, book a session with one of our trainers, or join one of our sports clubs who will use it regularly.”
