Project Description

PRIMARY SPACES INSTALLATIONS

THE REQUIREMENTS

Primary Spaces is a program developed by Sport England who invested £18million of National Lottery funding into improving the physical education into primary schools across England. The fund was spent on primary schools who had successfully applied for a grant as they had little or no outside space. Over 600 schools won grants of up to £30,000 and were able to choose from a range of packages to enhance their sporting facilities with multi-use games areas.

The various design options that the schools could choose from, all contained activity surfacing, many wetpour specifications, which we had the specialist skills to install.  In total, we have installed over 156 Primary Spaces surfaces across England since August 2014 at 68 primary schools in the north of England.

WHAT WE DID

Up in the north of England, we have so far installed surfaces at 68 primary schools covering a grand total of 13005m² play spaces. From Gateshead in the north east through to Chester in the north west, we have installed many surface designs to keep children across the country active, whilst meeting Sport England specifications.

However, this work was tendered out to specialists companies from playground equipment companies to groundwork contractors, meaning that we had to rely on our invaluable experience and industry knowledge to get involved and to be a part of getting children physically active at school.

THE OUTCOME

In total, we have been trusted by ten specialist companies for the Primary Spaces project, gaining six new customers who choose us based on our unique expertise on wet pour graphics.

But what makes us exceptionally proud, is that we have been involved in making 68 primary schools in the north of England more physically active by improving Physical Education, sport and activity facilities.
