This quarter has proven to be an exciting one here at RTC Safety Surfaces. We’ve been installing all over the country, from golf course pathways in Inverness and helping to create Devon’s biggest adventure park – a Caribbean themed wet pour installation at Weymouth Sea Life Centre. You can read the full case study, and view the video here. We’ve also completed projects in Wales and Great Yarmouth and everywhere in between!

We’ve also installed approximately 10,000m² of Enviro-Pave, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to use once inaccessible paths all year round. If you’d like to know more about our Enviro-Pave installations read about them here.

One of our teams also visited Rothay Park in Cumbria, to create a geometric style playground for Proludic. They installed over 600m² of wet pour safety surfacing in black with sweeping green and brown triangles overlapping across the site.

Another team travelled further afield however, heading over to Edinburgh to install over 700m² at Magdalene Glen Play Area. Using multiple bright colours, they had to carefully lay the safety surfacing around pre-formed 3d design features – ensuring any child playing on them would be safe.

Bright colours were also used for a smaller project at Ikea, Milton Keynes. Using blue and yellow our teams installed the wet pour safety surfacing to create and eye-catching and on-brand play area for the store.

Along with wet pour, we’ve also been busy installing resin bound rubber mulch. This included a mix of red and brown rubber mulch at Centre Parcs Woburn to help keep visitors safe as they enjoyed one of the site’s play areas.

Resin bound rubber mulch was also the order of the day at one of two Ministry of Defence sites we worked on, on behalf of Proludic. The rubber mulch was complimented by wet pour wearpads that were laid in high traffic areas where more footfall can be expected, such as at the base of a slide.

Closer to home, our teams carried out wet pour repairs on a whopping 31 separate sites for Harrogate Council. Wet pour is a very long lasting surface, but after numerous years or cases of vandalism, it can need repair work.

Our teams are experienced in carrying out repairs quickly and efficiently, however, if the affected area is less than 1m² a repair kit may be more cost efficient. If you would like to know more about repairs, or repair kits feel free to get in touch.

In Long Marston, we helped to create a brand new play area – including a wet pour train track in red with yellow ‘track’ detailing – on which a wooden train will soon be making its merry way.

Along with train tracks and road markings, our teams are experienced in creating splashpads – and got to display this skill at Victoria Park, Haywood Heath. We brightened up an existing splashpad by removing the old wet pour and installing new surfacing in contrasting colours to create an area that would inspire lots of summer fun. Our wet pour is a perfect safety surfacing for splashpads, as it is has been lab-tested to prove its non-slip properties and is fully porous.

Down in London, we used wet pour safety surfacing to create a striking design in Philpott Square toddler play area. Our team used red, orange and yellow to create multiple stripes at depths varying from 40 – 80mm.

All in all, our teams have worked on some truly special projects that allowed them to showcase their experience and skills learned through our intensive in-house training. We hope the next few months will be just as exciting!

We have also received some lovely feedback this month! Including these two testimonials:

The RTC team at Weymouth did a fantastic job. We had designed the wow factor for what will be the biggest play area in the south west, it was extremely important we delivered the wow factor. RTC stayed in close contact to plan around the weather to avoid delays and completed on time. There were no issues with Health & Safety and the customer was extremely happy with how they conducted their work. RTC always do a fantastic job and have done for many years for Playdale but this site is one of those special sites and we could not have done it without them.
Barry Leahey, Playdale
I have worked with RTC for many years. They always deliver exceptional service and high quality installations. Both the client and I are very happy with the pathways they have installed.
