WET POUR MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS
Wet pour is a low maintenance rubber surface that is porous when laid onto a porous, free-draining sub-base. There is no need to top up the surfaces as there is with loose fill surfaces such as bark or sand.
As each installation is unique, our estimators will advise you on the expected time your soft surface will take to install. Once your wet pour surfacing has been installed, you can expect to be able to use it the next day.

Made up of a multi-component polyurethane and rubber composite, wet pour is installed onsite by a chemical mixing, wet pouring, leveling, screeding and rolling process. Dependant on usage, this playground surface can be expected to last up to 10 years.
Our expert installers are all trained and work in-house with Site Managers having at least 5 years’ experience.
CLEANING & MAINTAINING WET POUR SURFACES
With any synthetic surface, it is vital that your surface is maintained. Your maintenance program will depend on the usage of the surface. Heavily used play areas, will need to be cleaned more frequently.
We recommend that you inspect the surface on a daily basis for any foreign objects and remove them. The surface can be swept to remove any leaves or debris. If your play area is large, then you can use a blower to remove any debris. Should the surface become dirty, we recommend use of a power washer on a low pressure setting to remove surface dirt. This should be undertaken at least every 6 months. It is very important that a high-pressure setting is not used, as this can damage the surface. Do not use any strong chemicals / bleach or detergents on the surface, as this can also cause damage.
Should ice form on the surface and the area become slippy, rock salt / grit should not be used. This can damage the surface and reduce the porosity of the surface. We recommend a chemical de–icer, such as Magic Ice Melt, which is non-toxic to humans, animals, and vegetation.
WET POUR REPAIRS
Depending on use and atmospheric conditions, wet pour should last for years. However, there may be times when routine maintenance is required.
For areas affected by vandalism or wear-and-tear, our installers are able to repair only the damaged area. This can be a cost-effective solution. Repairs to wet pour are generally carried out in an alternative colour to make a ‘feature’ of the repair. This will add to the aesthetics of the rubber surface rather than repair in the same colour.
For small areas (less than 1m²) we supply repair kits which will allow for repairs without the cost for sending a specialist team. Our wet pour repair kits come with all the necessary materials and instructions on how to use them.

WET POUR BAND REPAIRS
Band repairs are required when the perimeter of a wet pour surface has shrunk away from the edges. This is a natural occurrence of wetpour as rubber expands and contracts throughout the fluctuating seasons. However, it may take many years for the gap between the surface and the edge to become visible.
Should your surface suffer from this natural process, it’s not always necessary to replace the whole area. Our experienced installers are able to come to site and carry out a ‘band repair’ as shown below.

WEAR AND TEAR DAMAGE
Just like any other surface, wet pour can suffer damage in playgrounds with a high footfall. Heavily used areas such as at the bottom of slides, under swings and around roundabouts are generally most affected. Our installers are available to repair such areas as shown in the photos below. Vandalised areas can also benefit from patch repairs.
For damage that’s less than 1m², the cost-effective solution would be for us to supply you with a repair kit.

“RTC has done a wonderful job for our outside play areas. The children were delighted with the results and couldn’t wait to play on the surface.
As an inner city site, it is vital that we have safe, attractive areas for children to run around on and our new Playscapes enhance the whole areas.”
